Conference Involvement

I believe conferences are summer camps for academics…Always rejuvenated, nourished, challenged, and left yearning for more!

At the Association for Theatre in Higher Education in 2018, I helped create the Middle Eastern Theatre (MET) Focus Group. Since, as the current Chair, I have (1) led initiatives to bridge the gap between industry and academia, (2) partnered with theatre for social change, Latinx, Black theatre, LGBTQ+ groups, (3) contributed to local and national new play development initiatives. Responsive to the needs of scholars, students and practitioners I am currently evolving and decentralizing my personal research project--the first MENA women playwrights database at a university library--by leading the development of MET’s open access platform.

I have also served as the Theatre for Social Change Focus Group graduate representative, leading the debut panel, and was the 2022 pre-conference planner.

Over the years I’ve presented at ATHE, ASTR, PSi, MATC, A2RU as well as the International Symposium on Bilingualism, UN Commission on the Status of Women, and the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students.
